2017 Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarships Awarded to Kathryn Strege and Jon Klein

Established in 2008, the Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship program has awarded annual scholarships to two graduating Minnesota high school student athletes. The purpose of the scholarships is to advance sports medicine and orthopedic care throughout Minnesota.

One of the scholarships is awarded annually to a female student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. This $2,500 scholarship is funded by Women's Orthopaedic Center in partnership with Allina Health. Kathryn Strege, a 2017 graduate of Lakeville South High School, was awarded the female student athlete scholarship. She is attending University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and will be pursuing a degree in Biology with the goal of enrolling in medical school following completion of her undergraduate degree.

 
The second scholarship is awarded to a male student athlete and is funded by Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists in partnership with Allina Health. This $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a male student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. This year’s male student athlete scholarship recipient is Jon Klein, a 2017 graduate from Rochester Mayo High School. He is attending, the University of Notre Dame where he will be pursuing a Pre-Professional major with a desire to advance to medical school.
