2019 Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship

Established in 2008, the Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship program has awarded annual scholarships to two graduating Minnesota high school student athletes. One of the scholarships is awarded annually to a female student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. This $2,500 scholarship is funded by Women's Orthopaedic Center in partnership with Allina Health. The second scholarship is awarded to a male student athlete and is funded by Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists in partnership with Allina Health. This $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a male student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. The purpose of the scholarships is to advance sports medicine and orthopedic care throughout Minnesota. The 2018 winners included:
Chloe Johnson, a 2018 graduate of Eden Prairie High School, currently attending University of Notre Dame, pursuing a degree in Pre-Med and Spanish with the goal of enrolling in medical school following completion of her undergraduate degree.
 
 
Maxwell Walters-Smith, a 2018 graduate of Rochester Mayo High School, currently attending University of South Florida, pursuing a degree in Biology with a Pre-Med focus with a desire to advance to medical school.
